Our Story
Welcome to Fernando's Guest House & Grill — a family-owned Victorian gem nestled in the exclusive garden suburb of Mill Park, Nelson Mandela Bay.
The house itself dates back to 1902, and we proudly opened our doors as Port Elizabeth's very first guest house in 1983. Since then, we've been collecting beautiful pieces of antique furniture and original art — and building a reputation for warmth that no chain hotel can match.
The guest house spans three Victorian houses in close proximity to each other, all brimming with character: original pressed-steel ceilings, ornate cast-iron fireplaces, gleaming yellowwood floors, and the kind of charm that only a century-old building can offer with a modern touch where it's needed.

Eco-Friendly: We've installed solar geysers and photovoltaic panels, collect rainwater, compost our waste, and grow our own organic herbs and vegetables on site.

Cosy, fully licensed, and open to both guests and the public. Fernando's Grill has been serving home-cooked meals and great steaks in Port Elizabeth for decades. The restaurant features an open grill and an à la carte menu — paired with local wines in a warm, intimate atmosphere that feels like dining at a friend's home.
We also serve a full breakfast each morning — the perfect way to start your day in the Friendly City.
